What is a dry bag used for?

1. Provides 100% waterproof protection
The most basic function of dry bags is to pack everything you need for travel and keep them dry and safe. You can take it straight away as a backpack, or use it as a backpack liner. It's best to choose a lightweight dry bag as a liner that you can put in a regular backpack or a larger dry bag. This way your backpack can definitely provide 100% waterproof protection for your items, whether it's in the rain or dropped into the water, and the cost is much lower than a waterproof backpack that can be used underwater.

2. Separates dry items from wet items
When we go on outdoor adventures, especially water sports, clothes, towels and other items can easily get wet. When it rains unfortunately, the rain also wets our clothes and shoes. Without a dryer around, it takes a long time to dry wet items. Not even waiting for them to dry, we need to go back.
It's not a good idea to put wet and dry items together, nobody wants to get everything wet. Dry bags can effectively separate wet and dry items, ensuring that wet items do not come into contact with other items. Compared to single-use plastic bags, it is a more environmentally friendly option that can be reused.

3. Easy to organize and store
Whether going camping, diving or fishing, we need to bring enough items with us in the outdoors, including but not limited to clothes, food, tools, first aid medicines, etc. We don't need everything all the time, and rummaging through bags can be an annoying and unpleasant process.
Choosing a clear dry bag can avoid such troubles. However, if your dry bag is not see-through, you need to prepare dry bags of different sizes or colors to store different items. Remember to mark them well to quickly get what you need.

4. Floatable
The roll-top design of the waterproof dry bag allows it to retain some air when sealed, so the dry bag can float on the water. When kayaking, rafting, paddle boarding, etc., your backpack may fall into the water. If the backpack sinks to the bottom, you will have to go into the water to get it, not to mention getting your clothes wet, and it may take a long time to find it. The waterproof dry bag floating on the water allows you to find it at a glance, you just need to reach for it by hand or with a paddle.

The floatable brightly colored dry bag can also be used as a swimming buoy. When you swim in the wild, you can seal your items into the dry bag along with some air, tie a rope to your body on the D-buckle or webbing of the dry bag. It will alert oncoming boats to stay away from you and protect your safety.

5. Temporary pillow
A dry bag filled with air or some soft clothing can serve as a temporary pillow when camping, relaxing on the beach or lying down on a boat for a while. It's more comfortable than a tree trunk, a rock, a hard backpack, or your arms, except, of course, someone else's thigh.

6. Laundry bag
Exploring the outdoors is not always a one-day trip, we sometimes stay in the wilderness for several days. It is important to plan wisely what you need to carry, otherwise a heavy backpack will consume a large part of your energy at the beginning of the trip, which means we need to pack light. If you can keep your clothes clean by washing them in the field, you don't have to bring a lot of clothes, which can save some space in the backpack and reduce the load.
There are no showers, sinks or washing machines in the wild, how do we wash our clothes?
Dry bags can make a big difference!
Dry bags will neither let water in nor out. You can put your dirty clothes in the dry bag, then put some water and eco-friendly laundry detergent, pour out the dirty water and fill it with fresh water and wash repeatedly until the clothes are clean.

7. A container for anything
Since a dry bag can hold water, it means it can hold anything. You can use it as an ice bucket to store your drinks. It can be used as a bucket to transport water from the river to where you need it outdoors, and a windbreak sandbag at the seaside or in the desert. You can also use a dry bag as an eco-friendly shopping bag or a temporary trash bag in the wild.

Bonus: Fitness Equipment
A dry bag filled with water or sand can be used as an alternative to kettlebells, and you can definitely use it to exercise and do some lift training at home. Dump the water out when you're done working out, and the rolled-up dry bag also saves storage space.

How to close a roll top dry bag?

A good seal is important for dry bags to be waterproof. Sealing a dry bag takes a little trick, but it's not complicated at all, just 3 steps.

Step 1 Fold stiffener once around opening
Step 2 Extrude the air out of the folding part
Step 3 Roll down 3 to 5 times and clip the buckle to close

Until then, you need to rationalize the placement of your items in the dry bag based on what you are going to bring.
Make sure to put your valuables inside the dry bag main body, the zipper pocket on the outside of the roll top dry bag are not 100% waterproof, they are only splash-proof. If you put your phone in the outside zipper pocket and the dry bag unfortunately falls into the water, then you're likely to lose touch with the world.
You'd better choose a dry bag with a separate valuables bag inside, it will provide double waterproof protection for your valuables, which is more secure and reliable.

Don't put sharp objects in dry bags. Although they are made of sturdy and wear-resistant materials, they are not "bullet-proof glass" of the backpack world. Once cut, the waterproof of dry bags will be destroyed. Please fold up sharp objects or wrap them in soft fabric.
Remember to leave a quarter to a third of the air inside the dry bag so that when your dry bag falls into the water, it floats and you can find it right away.
If the dry bag has a D-buckle or webbing, it can be fastened well to a kayak, sup or bicycle fork. Just run a string through the dry bag and where you want them to be, and you don't need to worry about leaving them behind on your trip.
